Fly to The Centre of Papua

Central Papua region can accessed only by airplane, there is no way to reach it using car, even more a ship! The problem are lack of infrastructure and extreme topographic condition with mountains.

The consequence of this transportation system is the price of commodities extremely high compared with their price in Jayapura. For example, in some region in Central Papua gasoline price can reach IDR 50000 per liter, or about USD 15 per gallon.

People said that the center activity of Central Papua is Wamena, there are so many airplane that able to land on the WMX runway, the biggest one is Boeing 737-300 operated by Trigana Air Service.

This morning I went to Oksibil to do some work. Paying about IDR 1.5 million for ticket and airport tax from DJJ to OKS, and IDR 765000 from OKS to DJJ.

To reach Oksibil, we can reach it using De Havilland Dash 7 by Pelita Air Service 3 times a day, and the other smaller plane from AMA, MAF, Yajasi, Susi Air, Premi Air, Merpati, Trigana, and other STOL (Short Takeoff and Landing) aircraft owners.

We fly with another cargo pax in same cabin with passenger. The good thing is, not like Lion Air, they provide drink (AQUA) for free. About culinary? Passenger next to me take his own pack of 'Nasi Bungkus'.
